Try it with contact lists, order exports, inventory files and reports from older Chinese systems.
GBK / GB18030 · CSV
Convert GBK CSV
to UTF-8.
CSV exports from Windows software, older systems or local business tools are often not UTF-8. Read the file as GBK or GB18030, confirm the preview, then download a clean copy.
Read the file as GBKGBK and GB18030: what is the difference?
GBK is a common Simplified Chinese encoding. GB18030 covers a wider character set and is the standard decoder available in most modern browsers. They are usually compatible for everyday Chinese CSV exports.
Make sure names, addresses and notes look correct before downloading the converted file.
UTF-8 BOM is selected by default because Excel is more likely to recognize the Chinese text correctly.
If the conversion still looks wrong
Switch the source encoding back to Auto detect, or try UTF-8 and Big5. If the original file already contains ? or , the characters may have been lost during the first export and need to be regenerated from the source system.
Do not overwrite the original CSV. Download a new copy, then check it in Excel or a text editor.
Need another Chinese encoding?
For Traditional Chinese files, try Big5 to UTF-8 CSV. If Excel displays a CSV incorrectly, read Excel CSV garbled text fix.
