CSV Encoding Fixer

BIG5 / CP950 · CSV

Convert Big5 CSV
to UTF-8.

If Traditional Chinese text looks wrong in Excel or another app, the file may be using Big5 or CP950. Choose the source encoding, check the preview and download a new CSV.

Read the file as Big5

Which files might use Big5?

Older Windows software, business systems used in Taiwan and early export tools may create Big5 or CP950 CSV files. Program names vary, so the most reliable check is whether the converted preview looks correct.

Traditional Chinese looks right

Check names, addresses and notes before downloading the converted file.

Still not right?

Try UTF-8 or GBK, or return to Auto detect and compare the previews.

Excel recommendation

Choose UTF-8 BOM as the output so Excel has a clear encoding marker to read.

Question marks and replacement characters

If the text is only being decoded incorrectly, choosing Big5 will often fix it. If the original already contains ? or , the characters may have been replaced earlier and cannot be recovered by an encoding converter.

Keep the original file. Download the new UTF-8 CSV only after the preview looks correct.
